Colors!

Since thesis is over, I've had a little free time to mess around with the Nintendo DS homebrew program Colors! It is essentially a portable oekaki on your DS. Super cool needless to say, although I've been having some stylus jumping problems (which are apparent in the videos).

So I drew a barn owl (yay birds!) and one of my thesis characters today in about a half hour or so. Having a lot of fun messing with it. I wish it had a simple undo button though (especially due to the stylus jumps).

African Violets

Took care of some flowers for a couple months and drew a couple highly experimental pictures every couple weeks. These are on all different types of paper using all different types of media. WAS REALLY FUN!

Altered Landscape

To me, the idea of gas station perfectly represents how we manipulate and abuse the land around us. To me, it is the quintessential landmark of global warming and the idea of human greed. I painted this primarily in ink washes and added a little line-work in at the end.

This is the last assignment for my landscape painting class.

Photography Final

This is final portfolio for my photography class. The entire class had 2 1/2 weeks to get together an advertising campaign of sorts from start to finish. This includes the concept, finding models, purchasing items, and printing the 5-6 finished pieces. I chose to do a lifestyle campaign on lolita; primarily because I own quite a few dresses and I have little money in my bank account.

If you modeled for me and don't see yourself up here it isn't because the pictures were terrible or you were a bad model; it was because the images weren't creating a cohesive body of work. I have to say a HUGE thank you to Amanda, Aless, Lindsay, Vicki, Monica, and Alex for modeling for me. They put aside their busy schedules to help me pass my photo class. Thank you for saving my ass! <3

Thesis Revisions

Most of you at this point have noticed I am reworking all of my pieces for thesis by adding backgrounds, changing the modeling from cell shading to soft and then a combination of the two, etc. Here's some of the work I have finished. I will continuously update this post until I am finished will all 6 pieces.

Purikura and Japan

Picture frames I decorated from when I was in Japan. I was feeling rather nostalgic and decided to upload them. The first one is from the summer of 2006 and the second one is from the summer of 2009. I really miss all of the friends I made while I was in Japan (especially the Nakagawa family that took care of me and my friend Allison for 3 weeks).

I know this is more of my art blog, but Japan is very dear to me and I wanted to share these with you all. I love the purikura around the edges. They are so cute and funny!

Carters pt 2

These are the last 2 parts of the Carter's assignment. Graphic layouts and prints. I tried my hand at making all different types of prints: 1 Way, Toss neutral, 4 Way, 2 Way. The minimum for each part was 3, so I created 4. :D

These were fun to make. A nice break from thesis. Adobe Illustrator & InDesign CS4
