Experimental Type 2
This is more fun this time in Photoshop with type. I hand drew all of the type in her hair. I was inspired by Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds' song Simple Game of Genius. I was lucky enough to see him perform at the Budokan in Tokyo a couple of months ago. :)

Experimental Type 1
I've been playing around in Illustrator with type. I'm often inspired by music and the lyrics and I've been doodling stuff like this in my sketchbooks since high school. I've always wondered what these text with images collaborations would look like if I actually took the time to finish them. This is Fire by Kasabian.

Sketches/ T-shirt Contest
Some stuff I've done in the past couple of days. I whipped up some quick t-shirt vectors for a contest held by the fashion blogger La Carmina. You can check out her blog here: http://www.lacarmina.com/ She's pretty awesome!
I also did some sketches while I was at school. I was invited to watch the art class. Had to get some sketching in myself. Couldn't let the kids have all the fun.

Skyrim Hoodie Design
My first zipped hoodie design! I'm pretty pleased with this. The creative idea and initial sketch was done by my friend Varg (who commissioned me to do this). It's a 6 color design based on the game Skyrim. Completed in Adobe Illustrator and the mock-up was done in photoshop to show placement.

Fabric for Sale
My test swatches finally arrived in the mail this past Friday. I waited almost a month for overseas shipping from Spoonflower, but the result is worth it. I apologize that I took these photos with my cellphone camera, but the colors are true and quite vibrant. I really like the way the digital printing looks. I made some minor adjusts to 2 of the prints, but otherwise, these came out PERFECT.
All 21 of my patterns are available for purchase over on Spoonflower here: link
I have girls, boys, floral and anime collections currently available for sale. I will be adding more adult collections in the future.

Alice In Wonderland Shirt Design
Another shirt to add to the collection! This one will be going up on Redbubble alongside my 99 Red Balloons shirt! This was vectored in Adobe Illustrator and sketched and mocked-up in Adobe Photoshop (model photo by Threadless). I've always been in love with Alice (see: buttons) and now that I've gotten into making shirts, it's only fitting I honor my Lolita idol once more.

PS- PLEASE go vote on my 99 Red Balloons shirt on Designbyhumans. Link is here: http://www.designbyhumans.com/vote/detail/97575/

New Carter's Portfolio
Yes, it's that time again! I did another assessment test for Carter's (who I would LOVE to work for). These were all vectored in Adobe Illustrator (with the exception of the last floral, which I hand drew and colored in Photoshop). The idea here was to create a bunch of characters, clothing prints, and florals to be used in children's clothing. This is what I've been up to for the past 2 weeks. Hope you enjoy it.

This is some of my process work. Definitely not all of it. I think I filled about 20 pages in my small sketch book and these are about 15 of the pages compiled into one image.

99 Red Balloons Shirt Design
Everything vectored in Illustrator. Mock-up done in Photoshop. The model photo belongs to Threadless and is shown on "Black". I had a lot of fun with this shirt because I've never really touched the artist's brushes in Illustrator. Because I was playing with the brushes, this shirt took me a lot longer than I expected. This shirt was inspired by the song 99 Red Balloons by Nena.

"Ninety-nine dreams I have had
Every one a red balloon
Now it's all over and I'm standin' pretty
In this dust that was a city
If I could find a souvenir
Just to prove the world was here
And here is a red balloon
I think of you and let it go"

New Textile Designs!
I'm really excited about these new designs. Let me just first preface this by saying that living in Japan has really inspired me to create new prints. I wanted to create prints that I could the kids I teach wanting on the things they use every day. Things like tote bags, pencil cases, draw string bags for bento (lunch boxes), and of course backpacks. What do kids in Japan like most? Anime! I decided to use classic, highly inspirational anime series that practically every person in Japan knows of to create prints. These are series that I also love and have found to be almost ahead of their time when they were made and aired. I created my own interpretation of characters from: Astro Boy (鉄腕アトム), Rose of Versailles (ベルサイユのばら), Sailor Moon (美少女戦士セーラームーン), Galaxy Express 999 (銀河鉄道999), and Neon Genesis Evangelion (新世紀エヴァンゲリオン).

First, I vectored the characters and objects in Adobe Illustrator. Then, I brought the images into InDesign and laid out the prints. Next I combined the prints onto the objects in Photoshop and arranged the objects next to images of the prints for my website. With that being said, I hope you enjoy these prints as much as I enjoyed making them.

THEY ARRIVED!!!! These are going to be on sale for 2$ a pack on April 30th in Sarasota, Florida for my Thesis Show. I spent an hour packaging them with my business card in them 2 days ago. Thanks to Tigsie for helping me with it all. It was good to hang out with a friend I hadn't seen in a while.
